This new six-axle hybrid locomotive is more than just a heavy haul locomotive for the “first- and last mile”, and offers new standards in efficiency and flexibility. It can be used on electrified and non-electrified lines, dynamically switching from the electric to dieselmode. The EuroDual Germany/Austria can be used on electrified lines with 15 kV 16.7 Hz and 25 kV 50 Hz, it has an output of 6,200 kW in electric operation. For non-electrified lines, the EuroDual has a powerful diesel engine with 2.8MW output. The locomotives is fitted with both ETCS L2 Baseline 3.4.0, as well as PZB for all national lines. With a tractive effort of over 500kN, a single EuroDual can replace two Bo’Bo’ locomotives in double traction. The EuroDual offers a CM4 line certification, due to its limited 20.5 Ton axle load and has a 90 meter minimum curve radius. Combined with the Theimeg remote control system it is also ideally suited for last mile operations, saving on expensive 3rd party services and/or shunting locomotives.
