Ahrensburg / Frauenfeld, December 2025

HRS is expanding its fleet with a Euro9000 locomotive. According to Managing Director Adem Gülaz, the key factors behind the decision were the locomotive’s exceptional performance and high versatility. The Euro9000 will enable HRS to operate both heavy ore trains and short-notice work trains with just one locomotive in the future. “With the Euro9000, we are ready for any challenge,” says Gülaz.
Thanks to its enormous tractive power, HRS can eliminate the need for double traction, making operations more efficient. The decision in favour of the Euro9000 was evaluated over several years. Today, the company sees the timing as ideal: “I can now say with pride that our company is large enough and that a locomotive like this fits perfectly into our portfolio.”
Gülaz rates the collaboration with ELP very positively, highlighting the partnership-based communication and cooperation at eye level. “Communication has been very good and collaborative throughout,” he says.
The handover of the first of two Euro9000 locomotives is imminent and it will enter service with HRS from December 2025.
