ELP presents the second Next Generation Award to thurgorienta
Frauenfeld, June 2026

With the Next Generation Award, European Loc Pool specifically recognises clubs within the Sportnetz Frauenfeld network that invest sustainably in young people and actively shape the future of youth sports. The award is presented four times a year.
The second award goes to thurgorienta, a long-established orienteering club from Frauenfeld that has placed great importance on youth development and club development for decades. The jury was particularly impressed by the club’s diverse youth programme and its sustainable approach to inspiring young people to take a long-term interest in orienteering and club life.
Thurgorienta supports children and young people according to their individual abilities and goals. The focus is not only on sporting performance, but also on team spirit, personal development and the joy of being active in nature.
During an official handover ceremony on site, representatives of ELP and Sportnetz Frauenfeld recognised the club’s commitment.

Representatives of thurgorienta emphasise:
“Orienteering combines physical and mental challenges in a unique way. It is important to us not only to introduce children and young people to the sport, but also to pass on values such as responsibility, team spirit and independence. The Next Generation Award supports us in further expanding our youth development work.”
Sportnetz President Hanu Fehr also highlighted the importance of such clubs:
“Clubs like thurgorienta make an enormously important contribution to the region and to the development of young people. It is particularly impressive how sport, community and youth development are brought together here.”
For ELP, regional engagement is a conscious decision. CEO Willem Goosen explains:
“With the Next Generation Award, we want to support clubs that invest sustainably in young people and promote responsibility. thurgorienta impressively demonstrates how important long-term youth development is for a strong future, in sports just as much as in business.”
The name of the award was chosen deliberately. With its highly modern multi-system locomotives, ELP represents a next generation in European rail freight. The locomotives combine performance, efficiency and future readiness on rail.
As a company based in Frauenfeld, ELP is proud to actively support young people in the region through this initiative and to make a sustainable contribution to club life.
